FAMILY RIODINIDAE
Grote, 1895

A family of some 1,300 species, more than 90% of which occur in the Neotropical Region. All 100 or so species found in the Old World tropics (Oriental and Afrotropical Regions) are placed in the subfamily Nemeobiinae.

There are only 15 species in the Afrotropics, in two genera, Abisara (on the mainland) and Saribia (on Madagascar).

Relevant literature: Campbell, et al., 2000.
